Weekly Snapshot #6 - Week of September 29, 2025

         St. Elizabeth School Weekly Snapshot

Week of September 29, 2025

Congratulations to all of you on the recognition of being named a 2025 Pennsylvania Blue Ribbon School!  The work that you do each day with our students is the reason why we are being given this honor.  Thank you to all who worked on our application.  You helped us to stand out in a very crowded and qualified field.  It is truly a blessing to be the only Catholic school in the state to receive this distinction.

We will have a Fire Drill some time during the week of October 5, 2025.  Our next announced drill will be an Internal Lockdown Drill on October 22, 2025.  Please be sure to start reviewing this procedure with your classes.  This one is a bit more involved than our external lockdown drill.  Please be sure that your doors are always locked so that you can simply move the magnet and pull the door closed in the event of an emergency.

Please respond to the Sunshine Club Interest Form attached to this week’s email. Sarah has offered to take this on as a labor of love.  We have had 13 responses so far.  To make October a bit more interesting, we are going to do an Underground Spirit Month with different themed days happening during each week of October.  This will culminate with our Staff Halloween Costume Extravaganza on Thursday, October 30, 2025.  Sandi gave us the wonderful idea of dressing as Toy Story characters.  I will attach a list of characters and a Google Form to the email this week.  Please know that these events are always OPTIONAL.  You are not expected to participate but you are always invited to participate at your level of comfort.  Check your mailboxes (or the attachment to this week’s email) for a schedule of Underground Spirit Month activities.

All teachers will receive a Meet the Teacher form in your mailbox this week.  This came at the suggestion of one of our parents who is looking ahead to holiday gift giving.  You are not obligated to participate.  If you do want to complete your sheet, I ask that you please return that to me by Friday, October 10, 2025.  I also ask all homeroom teachers to let Kathleen Brady know who your homeroom parents will be by Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Please note that morning arrival duty ends at 8:05 AM.  That should give enough time to get to your classroom for prayers.  I aim for an 8:07 AM start time each day for prayers.  If you receive doctor’s notes or absence notes, please keep them in a file in your classroom.  They must be kept for one year.  After a year, they can be discarded.

Words of Wisdom for the Week

“Actions speak louder than words; let your words teach and your actions speak.” - St. Anthony of Padua

Virtue for the Month of September: Faith

All teachers are teachers of the faith in our school, so all teachers may send to the office at any time throughout the month names of students who are modeling the virtue of faith. You are also welcome to discuss the virtue of the month in any class you are teaching.  We will announce the names of those students on the loud speaker and place their names on stars which will be displayed for all to see. In this way, we share their light and shine a light on their goodness. We will get a photo at the end of the month and share with parents in our weekly communication.  Virtue for October is reverence.  Posters were placed in your mailboxes.
