Weekly Snapshot #10 - Week of October 27, 2025

         St. Elizabeth School Weekly Snapshot

Week of October 27, 2025

Thank you all so much for holding conferences for our parents this week!  I know that it can be a lot added to your plate, but it is a good time to get the students prepped for the end of the trimester, which will be here before we know it.  I hope that your conferences were positive and productive.  I am so appreciative of all that you do.

Please remember that your websites should always be up-to-date.  If you are having a tough time finding time for this, perhaps consider dedicating part of one prep period each week to this effort.  If you have copies that need to be made during those preps and that is what is taking time away, Teri and I are always happy to help with that project so that you can do more important work on your prep periods.  All you need to do is ask and give us directions.

Our next announced drill will be a fire drill during the week of October 27, 2025.  Please let your students know that we will have a fire drill at some point in time during the week and review the procedure for  a fire drill. After the fire drill, I will collect your red emergency folders so that I can add emergency information specific to classes to your folders.

Our internal lockdown went well.  Please be sure to move the magnet before closing your door so that your door locks.  Also, please review with students what should be done if a lockdown is called and they are out of the room.  They should go to the nearest classroom.  If there is no teacher in that room, they can go into any open classroom and close the door and hide. If they are in the restroom and cannot get to a classroom, they should go in a stall and perch on the seat or get to the nearest adult restroom.  If you should ever hear the alarm that we tested yesterday, please know that it means that Teri or I are not able to get to the loud speaker and it is not a drill.  If you hear that, lockdown your classroom and call 911.

We have a Shoe Collection Drive beginning on Monday.  This was thrown together relatively quickly with parish services to provide shoe donations for our sister parish at Visitation BVM in Philadelphia.  We are also having Sneaker Week in which we collect $5.00 per student to raise funds to buy shoes.  Families have the following options: pay $5.00 per student, sign up to buy a pair of shoes from the sign-up genius, or not participate at all.  We will track who has donated or signed up to donate.  Students can wear sneakers all week.  I am attaching both flyers to this email for your information.

It is hard to believe that October is almost over.  It feels like May! We have our Halloween celebration next Thursday.  Students will be permitted to wear Halloween colors and accessories on Thursday, October 30, 2025. I will send a reminder on Wednesday morning because I put the wrong date in the communication this week. Our ghost photo shoot will take place after school on Wednesday, October 29 for all who are interested.  I bought brand new sheets!

Words of Wisdom for the Week

“Take care of your body as if you were going to live forever; and take care of your soul as if you were going to die tomorrow.” ~ Saint Augustine of Hippo

Virtue for the Month of October: Reverence

All teachers are teachers of the faith in our school, so all teachers may send to the office at any time throughout the month names of students who are modeling the virtue of reverence. You are also welcome to discuss the virtue of the month in any class you are teaching.  We will announce the names of those students on the loud speaker and place their names on stars which will be displayed for all to see. In this way, we share their light and shine a light on their goodness. Our virtue for the month of November will be Stewardship.
