Weekly Snapshot #9 - Week of October 20, 2025

         St. Elizabeth School Weekly Snapshot

Week of October 20, 2025

Thank you all so much for keeping things running while I was away at the Principals Conference.  I learned a lot of valuable information and got some new ideas and inspiration in beautiful surroundings.  It truly was a lovely time away, and it seems like we made it through the week with minimal fires for me to put out upon my return tomorrow.  We were blessed to receive a $25,000 grant from the Connelly Foundation at the conference last week in recognition of our Blue Ribbon Status.  I wanted to share the news with you before telling our wider community.  Father Donia and I will begin discussing ways that this gift would best be utilized.

Please remember that you should have at least three grades recorded for each subject by the week of October 20, 2025.  These do not need to be (nor should they be) only tests.  We should be using varied assessments to get a full picture of what our students are learning and producing.  I will be checking Option C this week to see where we are in terms of progress.

Our next announced drill will be an Internal Lockdown Drill on October 22, 2025.  Please be sure to start reviewing this procedure with your classes.  This one is a bit more involved than our external lockdown drill.  Please be sure that your doors are always locked so that you can simply move the magnet and pull the door closed in the event of an emergency.

Thank you all for making time for our parents this week at Parent/Teacher Conferences.  If anyone needs me to sit in on a conference, please let me know but also alert the parents to see if they want me to be present.  I trust you to handle things, but I am always here to support in any way that I can.

It is hard to believe that October is moving so quickly.  We have our Halloween celebration next Thursday.  Students will be permitted to wear Halloween colors and accessories on Thursday, October 30, 2025.  This will also be the day of our staff Halloween costume!  If anyone wants to participate in a fun ghost photoshoot next week, please let me know.  There is a sample photo at the bottom.

Words of Wisdom for the Week

“Take care of your body as if you were going to live forever; and take care of your soul as if you were going to die tomorrow.” ~ Saint Augustine of Hippo

Virtue for the Month of October: Reverence

All teachers are teachers of the faith in our school, so all teachers may send to the office at any time throughout the month names of students who are modeling the virtue of reverence. You are also welcome to discuss the virtue of the month in any class you are teaching.  We will announce the names of those students on the loud speaker and place their names on stars which will be displayed for all to see. In this way, we share their light and shine a light on their goodness.
